According to Manuel Cortez, President, and co-founder of the radio station, there are two prime goals for the establishment of Radio Horizonte. One is to promote higher education within and around of our coverage area. This mission is so engrained in the stations DNA that it has defined the call letters of the media house. WLEG is not just a random mashup of letters. W is the initial letter for radio stations in our region of the country. LEG stands for Latino, Education and our broadcast location, Goshen, Indiana, USA. The second prime mission of this community radio "station is to be a bridge between the Hispanic/Latino community and everyone else." 

 

The Smash Hitz Show is positioned to aid in the achievement of these and other Radio Horizonte's goals by promoting tolerance and diversity with a carefully selected blend of music from around the world. We can learn a lot about other people's struggles, dreams, and aspirations through stories that only music can tell. The Smash Hitz Show also helps to disseminate community sensitive and educational information throughout the span of the 2-hour weekly program.
